One of the Cameroon’s rising combat sports talents, Alain Majorique is in the doorsteps of making history as pioneer African Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) champion of the Professional Fighters League (PFL).

The undefeated Cameroonian Featherweight star will face Nigeria’s five-fight win streak veteran Wasi Adeshina in the finals of the inaugural PFL Africa league in Cotonou, Benin, on December 20.

Majorique and Adeshina are among Africa’s elite fighters to battle for championship belts and fortune across four division; Heavyweight, Welterweight, Featherweight, and Bantamweight at the finals.

The winners will claim the PFL Africa Champion status and a massive $100,000 (approximately FCFA 60 million) prize, one of the largest single payouts for a professional athlete on the continent.

Headlining the card are elite Bantamweights Nkosi Ndebele (10-3) of South Africa who faces undefeated Karim Henniene (6-0) of Algeria for tournament gold. In the co-main event, Angola’s Shido Boris Esperança (11-1), with a 82% finish rate, will collide with striking ace Yabna N’Tchala (13-2-1) of Guinea-Bissau for the Welterweight title.

In the Heavyweight division, South Africa meets the Ivory Coast as undefeated Justin Clarke (4-0), who boasts a 100% finish rate, takes on Abraham Bably (7-2), who has 5 out of 7 finishes, for PFL gold.

Nigeria’s Juliet Ukah will take on Egypt’s Maryam Gaber

The line-up highlights key regional rivalries, including a Lightweight Showcase Bout featuring Benin’s own Jean Do Santos (9-1) making his PFL debut against a Nigerian rival, Cornel Thompson (10-3).

African Women’s MMA will also be on the spotlight during the fight night with two female showcase bouts on the card.

Opening the night, 2025 IMMAF African Championships Gold Medalist and 2025 IMMAF Worlds Silver Medalist, Shelda Chipito (0-0) of Zambia, makes her professional debut in a Strawweight bout against Nigeria’s Miracle Andrew (1-1). Chipito comes into the fight with a decorated 9-4 record from the amateur circuit.

Meanwhile, undefeated Nigerian stand out Juliet Ukah (7-0) will take on Egyptian boxer turned MMA contender, Maryam Gaber who holds a professional record of 3-0. Ukah made history as the first female fighter from Africa signed by the PFL and won her debut fight defeating South Africa’s Ceileigh Niedermayr by unanimous decision in their women’s strawweight showcase at the inaugural PFL Africa event in Cape Town last July.

Fans across Cameroon can watch the action live via CANAL+, SuperSport, SportyTV, StarzPlay, and other official broadcast partners.

“As part of our commitment to foster fight sports for our African audience, we are proud to host and broadcast this historic event”, said Fabrice Faux, CANAL+ Director Content, Sport and General Entertainment, French-speaking Africa. “The Republic of Benin, as well as the Professional Fighters League can rely on their long-lasting partner CANAL+ SPORT to promote and expose this championship widely across the Continent”, he added.
