The fruits of the General Khalife of Bambilor’s European tour is beginning to bear fruit. On Thursday, November 20, 2025, the municipality of Bambilor welcomed a delegation from the municipality of Verdelino, located in the province of Bergamo, Italy. The visit was part of a twinning arrangement between the municipalities of Bambilor and Verdelino that aims to explore investment opportunities for the development of the locality, particularly in the areas of culture, tourism, public administration, education and training, health, and youth employment.

The visiting delegation was welcomed to a rousing ceremony at Diass International Airport by the Mayor of Bambilor, Ndiagne Diop and then proceeded to visit the General Khalife of Bambilor, Thierno Amadou Ba and the president of the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Fawzi Wanadiati –initiator of the twinning programme in the afternoon, before being officially received at the town hall esplanade.

The mayor of Bambilor, surrounded by members of the municipal council, the municipal technical team and dignitaries from the “Lebou” community, expressed their deep gratitude to Khalife Thierno Amadou Ba and the Italian partners, promising them a fruitful working visit and a win-win partnership.

The official signing of the twinning agreement between the Italian and Senegalese parties is scheduled for this week. The agreement, which will cover a period of three years, renewable.
