Multi-award-winning journalist Arison Tamfu has been inducted into the Cameroon Wall of Fame, in recognition of his years of impactful reporting and contributions to journalism in Cameroon and across Africa.

The induction ceremony was held over the weekend in Buea, chief town of the country’s South West region, during the 10th anniversary of Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF).

Tamfu’s induction award was handed over by the Chargé d’Affaires at the American Embassy in Cameroon, John G. Robinson.

The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Cameroon Wall of Fame, Agbor Gilbert Ebot said Tamfu’s induction was “a testament to exceptional contributions and lasting impact” the journalist has made “within our nation and beyond”.

Tamfu was inducted alongside 15 other entertainment and media personalities.

“This award motivates and inspires me. Journalists in Cameroon work under very difficult conditions, and it is truly gratifying to be honoured and recognized after years of practicing in such a difficult environment”, Tamfu said following his induction. “I hope that this award will inspire other journalists to work hard and know that hard work always eventually pays. Importantly, good and professional journalism can truly move our country forward”.

Tamfu is currently permanent Central African correspondent for Chinese state media, Xinhua News Agency, covering news stories in Cameroon, Chad, the Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea.

He has also reported for multiple international news media, including The New Humanitarian (formerly United Nations News Agency), Turkish Radio Television (TRT World), One World Media, China Global Television Network (CGTN), Al Jazeera, and CNN.

Formerly Editor -in-Chief of the English desk of Douala-based Equinox TV and Radio, Tamfu has spent over a decade and counting practicing multimedia journalism and covering everything under the sun.

Colleagues describe him as a relentless reporter with a commitment to factual, courageous storytelling. His coverage has spanned politics, governance, and human interest stories, often spotlighting issues affecting ordinary Africans.

Over his career, Tamfu has earned multiple honours for his journalism, winning 10 international prestigious journalism awards, including United  Nations  Correspondents Association Awards, Africa fact-checking awards, European Union Lorenzo Natali Media Awards, CNN Multichoice Award, European Union CTA Media Competition, Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Awards (RFPA) Awards, and a finalist in Thomson Reuters Foundation’s  Kurt Schork Memorial Awards.

Cameroon Wall of Fame honours Cameroonians who have made exceptional contributions to the nation’s image, culture, and development over several years.
