Minister Mounouna Foutsou highlights Biya’s commitment to youths in new book

In a move to set the record straight and counter what he perceives as a disinformation campaign, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, (MINJEC), Mounouna Foutsou has published a book detailing President Paul Biya’s unwavering commitment to Cameroonian youths.

The book, titled “Paul Biya and Cameroonian Youth: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”, was presented to the public at the National Museum in Yaounde on February 12, 2025 in Yaoundé.

Attended by several government ministers, political, religious, traditional authorities and thousands of young people, the book launch featured reviews by Prof François-Marc Modzom, Director of the Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC) and Georges Alain Boyomo, Publisher of the French language daily newspaper, Mutations.

In his critique, Boyomo, while praising the president’s efforts, also highlighted the need for a paradigm shift in the implementation of youth programmes, citing the gap between presidential promises and the living conditions of young people.

The book, which is a comprehensive compilation of President Biya’s speeches, actions and programmes was prefaced by the Minister of Arts and Culture, (MINAC), Bidoung Mkpatt and post faced by a former Minister of Youth and Sports, Adoum Garoua. It is published by the Dénimber et Larimber publishing house.

Divided into 15 chapters, the 446-page book provides a detailed analysis of President Biya’s four-decade tenure, marked by a relentless commitment to serving the youth.

Through photographs, tables and in-depth commentary, the author said, it sheds light on the president’s vision for a brighter future and aimed at promoting the welfare and development of  Cameroonian youths.

The author , Mounouna Foutsou who has been a cabinet member since 2015, has had a front-row seat to the president’s efforts to empower and support the youth. He indicated “the publication of this book has enabled me to fulfil a civic and patriotic duty. It is also important to note that the book is a testament to my dedication to promoting the welfare of Cameroonian youths and setting the archives on President Biya’s commitment to young Cameroonians”, the author concluded.
