Hon Ngala Gerard donates to newly-created GTC Tabenken

The Member of Parliament for Donga Mantung central, Hon Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard, has offered the sum of FCFA One Million to the newly-created Government Technical College, (GTC) Tabenken in the Nkambe Central Subdivision of the Northwest region.

The amount, which will assist authorities of the baby institution acquire some benches and other didactic materials, was handed to the school on Tuesday October 28 on behalf of the MP by his alternate, Ngie Prudence.

“Hon Ngala Gerard has sent me here with a message; that I should congratulate you for the bold step taken to pursue your education. He has asked me to tell you people to take your education seriously because he wants that in the future, we should have engineers, teachers and many other professionals trained in Government Technical College Tabenken,” Ngie Prudence told the students.

The Alternate Member of Parliament for Donga Mantung Central, Nkambe, encouraged the population of Tabenken to stay vigilant during this very trying moment.

The Nkambe  council that was represented at the  handing over  ceremony by the forth deputy mayor, Tabenken village  elite through senior citizen, Njobe Cletus Kimbi and the pioneer principal of the school, all  hailed  the gesture by the Member of Parliament during the ceremony  that was spiced by songs of praise and traditional dances.

“What the Member of Parliament has done for this newly-created school that we have been crying for is way forward for the school to start very well. We are very grateful,” Njobe Cletus, who is former Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education for Donga Mantung, said.

The school’s principal said the MP’s gesture is evidence of the fact that he has the promotion of the education of the children at heart.

“What the MP has done will go a long way to facilitate the teaching-learning process for the students. So we are very grateful, the students are happy, the population of Tabenken is happy. I will like to send appreciation to the MP for the good work he is doing to see that his own homeland grows,” the pioneer principal of GTC Tabenken said.

The donation, we learned, is part of a multi-million project by the industrious Member of the National Assembly to boost and sustain education in his constituency.

It would be recalled that the dynamic Hon Ngala Gerard has been credited for lobbying for the creation of the school that has an enrollment of over 80 students in its first year.

The MP, who has championed a back-to-school campaign in Nkambe, is also being praised for the high school attendance recorded since the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year.

After a successful campaign  that saw him  crisscross the Nkambe  Central Subdivision for over 10 days to ensure children  from the kindergarten to  High Schools  resume  classes   for  the 2020/2021 academic  year, the fearless  MP said he was ready to take bullets  in his sustained campaign to see that children across the two English-speaking regions return to school.
