The Secretary General of the Central Committee of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), Jean Nkuete, has on behalf of the National President of the party and Head of State, President Paul Biya, praised Senator Françoise Puene for spearheading the renovation of the Bafang party house in the Upper Nkam Division of the West Region.

Constructed in 1975, fire ravaged the Bafang CPDM party house in 2008. Led by Senator Puene, some key figures of the party in the Upper Nkam then mobilised and carried out the renovation which they said cost FCFA 455 million.

The renovated edifice comprises four major compartments: lodging facility, an administrative block, a multi-purpose conference hall, a parking lot plus a basketball court.

Speaking at a ceremony to recommission the refurbished building in Bafang recently, Jean Nkuete hailed the initiative led by the Senator Puene. He called on party supporters in all the seven sections of the Upper Nkam to use the edifice to consolidate the party’s achievements in the Division and ensure victory for the party’s candidate at the forthcoming presidential vote.

“Dear comrades, through your vision and determination, you have given the CPDM a shelter, dignity and a future here in the Upper Nkam,” the ruling party scribe said addressing Senator Puene and team. “The message is clear; that the CPDM is here and ready for current and future battles while keeping its doors open for all the others,” Jean Nkuete said of the recommission of the party house at the threshold of a crucial presidential election in the country.

Cameroonians will go to the polls on October 12 to elect a new president who will rule the country for the next seven years – an election in which incumbent Biya will be seeking a new mandate.

Senator Puene used the occasion to call her kith and kin in the Upper Nkam to massively support the CPDM National President and give him their votes in the forthcoming election.

“My engagement to continue giving visibility to my team and ensuring continuous support to our [CPDM] National President, His Excellency Paul Biya. I wish to call on all the CPDM sections of the Upper Nkam to continue to supporting the National President of our great party who is also the Head of State,” Senator Puene said.

Among the prominent personalities at the massively attended ceremony were the Governor of the West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine, and the newly appointed Head of the CPDM Regional Permanent Delegation for the West, Komidor Njimoluh.
