More than 150,000 virtual and prepaid Mastercard cards issued as the Bank expands secure digital access for customers in Cameroon and abroad.

DOUALA, Cameroon, July 27, 2026: Access Bank Cameroon PLC has been named “Best Digital Bank for Consumers” in Cameroon at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, securing its first Euromoney Award since commencing operations in the country in May 2022.

The recognition reflects the Bank’s investment in digital services that help customers transfer money, make payments, manage cards, track transactions and access their accounts more conveniently, whether they are in Cameroon or abroad. Since launching operations, Access Bank Cameroon has built its retail banking strategy around expanding digital access and bringing essential financial services together through connected banking platforms.

At the center of this strategy is AccessMore, the Bank’s mobile banking application, which enables customers to complete real-time transfers, pay bills, purchase airtime and data, manage cards, track transactions and establish standing instructions without relying on a physical branch.

The Bank’s wider digital ecosystem also includes the PrimusPlus internet banking platform, USSD banking services, digital payment solutions and remote-account capabilities, supporting customers with different devices, connectivity levels and banking needs.

A major contributor to the Bank’s digital growth has been its BIN sponsorship partnerships with MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money. Through these partnerships, mobile wallet users can access virtual Mastercard payment solutions for secure local and international online transactions.

More than 100,000 virtual Mastercard cards have been issued through the partnerships, enabling more Cameroonians to pay for goods and services online and participate more confidently in the digital economy.

Access Bank Cameroon has also issued more than 50,000 prepaid Mastercard cards, giving customers flexible payment options for e-commerce, travel, education and everyday purchases.

For Cameroonians living abroad, the Bank’s cross-border, remittance and remote-banking capabilities provide more convenient ways to manage accounts in Cameroon, support family commitments, make payments and meet personal or business obligations without depending on repeated branch visits.

Commenting on the recognition, the Managing Director of Access Bank Cameroon Mr. Ellis Nzo Asu said: “Receiving our first Euromoney Award only four years after commencing operations in Cameroon is a significant achievement for our Bank and our people. More importantly, it reflects the trust our customers place in us and the growing relevance of the services we provide.”

“Our digital strategy is not about technology for its own sake. It is about removing barriers and helping customers carry out the transactions that matter to them more easily and securely—whether they are paying a bill, supporting their families, managing their businesses or accessing their finances from outside Cameroon.  “This recognition encourages us to keep listening, improving and developing solutions that respond to the real needs of our customers.”

Access Bank Cameroon strengthens strategic partnership with gov’t to support development

The award also recognizes the role of digital banking in supporting broader financial inclusion. By connecting banking, mobile money and card-payment services, Access Bank Cameroon is helping more customers move between cash, mobile wallets, bank accounts and digital commerce.

Alongside its digital services, the Bank supports SMEs, women-owned businesses and young entrepreneurs through financial literacy programs, business-development initiatives, networking opportunities and the W Initiative.

Access Bank Cameroon’s Euromoney recognition reinforces the wider Access Bank Group’s commitment to using its scale, technology and African network to create practical value for customers and communities.

For the Bank, the award is both a recognition of progress and a responsibility to continue improving the safety, reliability and accessibility of its digital services.
