Access Bank Cameroon Plc is stepping up efforts to strengthen its partnerships with the media, four years after launching operations in the country. It was in this spirit that the bank visited the head office of NewsWatch Newspaper in Yaounde on Monday, September 28, 2026—a particularly memorable day as NewsWatch joined newsrooms around the world in commemorating World News Day 2026.
Describing NewsWatch Newspaper as a valued partner, Nikom Eben Mathilde Nyamsi, Head of Corporate Communications at Access Bank Cameroon Plc, said the visit provided an opportunity for the financial institution and the media house to exchange perspectives, strengthen their relationship and build stronger collaboration based on trust and commitment.

During the meeting, NewsWatch Editor-in-Chief Ndi Eugene Ndi and Mathilde Nyamsi discussed a wide range of issues, with both sides expressing a shared commitment to fostering meaningful collaboration and supporting trusted journalism.
The Editor-in-Chief also presented Access Bank Cameroon with the media house’s various publications and hailed the visit as a rare opportunity for direct engagement with a trusted partner.
“Access Bank Cameroon’s decision to visit NewsWatch Newspaper on this special day is a meaningful demonstration of the trust and confidence they place in our work,” Ndi Eugene Ndi said.
While corporate institutions conventionally invite media organisations to their offices or other venues for business meetings, Access Bank Cameroon said it considered it important to reverse the approach and reach out directly to its partners.
“We chose to take the opposite approach, to reach out to the media rather than inviting them to us. We did this to strengthen the relationship we have maintained for years,” Mathilde Nyamsi explained.
She said the bank recognises the important role the media plays in communicating its messages to a wider audience and believes such partnerships should be nurtured through direct engagement.
“Your work helps us convey our message to our target audiences,” she told the NewsWatch Editor-in-Chief during the discussions.
The media outreach by Access Bank Cameroon Plc comes on the heels of the acquisition of Standard Chartered Bank Cameroon, completed in December 2025, as well as the launch of new products and services.

Among the bank’s recently launched products is an investment platform, Access Invest, which enables individuals, businesses and institutional investors to buy and sell government securities.
The bank has also introduced an auto loan scheme designed to provide flexible financing for new, electric and fuel-efficient vehicles. The facility offers up to 100 per cent financing for vehicles valued at up to FCFA 30 million and up to 90 per cent financing for vehicles above FCFA 30 million.
According to bank officials, the scheme differs from similar offerings by competitors, which are generally structured as lease arrangements.
