Staff of the central and devolved services of the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family (MINPROFF), have  been charged to step up their performance as 2025 rolls on.

Minister Prof Marie Therese Abena Ondoa made the call in Yaounde on May 6.  This was at the close of the annual conference of the Ministry that held on May 5 and 6 at the Yaounde Conference Centre.

The conference took place under the theme: “Reconciling social action in favour of women and families and the mobilisation of budgetary resources”.

Participants were urged to disseminate knowledge gained  and actively contribute to the Ministry’s financial resources. They were also reminded on the need to help the Ministry generate non-tax revenue and enhance its overall financial standing.

Prof Abena Ondoa emphasized the crucial role of each participant in translating the conference’s outcomes into tangible results. “I call on each and everyone here to ensure the effective implementation of the results obtained during this conference”, she said, before, further directing them to “largely publicise the results in your areas of competence” to colleagues who were not present.

The two-day event ended with nineteen key recommendations, categorized into operational and strategic levels. These include initiatives such as evaluating past material and financial support from partners, allocating funds for MINPROFF’s statistical information system, advancing the Ministry’s digital transformation plan and ensuring that the conference proceedings are shared and discussed with collaborators at all levels.

Wirba Asan Litinyuy, the North West Regional Delegate of Women Empowerment and the Family lauded the inclusive nature of the conference, noting the significant benefits participants made.

“They have gained a lot”, he stated, expressing his commitment to implementing the nineteen recommendations  to provide a clear assessment of progress in the North West in the future.

Also in attendance at the MINPROFF annual conference were high-ranking officials from the Ministries of Finance and Public Service and Administrative Reforms.
