After a groundbreaking debut in Cape Town, South Africa earlier this month, one of the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organisations, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) has confirmed the card for the second event of its newly launched Africa league, PFL Africa.

The second PFL Africa event will take place at the Big Top Arena, Carnival City in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday, August 9, PFL confirmed in a statement on Thursday. Top talents from the continent will compete in the Welterweight and Featherweight divisions as the inaugural tournament continues toward crowning the first-ever PFL Africa Champions.

Three Cameroonian MMA stars are on the line up of the second PFL Africa fight card – which includes eight tournament fights and two extra alternate bouts.

With a flawless 5-0 record, Octave Ayinda known as “The Bantu Warrior” will look to continue his winning streak and get closer to the maiden PFL Africa Welterweight crown when he squares off with Democratic Republic of Congo’s British Boloyang who holds a 3-1 fight record.

Two revelations from the Francis Ngannou Foundation, Emilios Dassi and Desmond Awa Tamungang also known as “Black Dragon” will also gunning for the crown in the PFL Smartcage.

With eyes on the maiden PFL Africa Champions title, Dassi who owns a 4-1 record will face Angola’s Osvaldo Benedito who hold a 3-1 fight record, while Awa “The Black Dragon” will  strive to continue his unbeaten record when he faces Nigeria’s rising star Kunle Lawal, also known as “The Nigerian Ninja”.

The main event in Johannesburg will be a must-see First Round matchup in the Featherweight Division, with Nigeria’s Patrick Ocheme (6-1) taking on Guinea’s Mohamed Camarta (5-2-1), while the co-main event will be Angola’s Shido Boris Esperanca (9-1) facing Gambia’s Ibrahima Mané (14-5).

At the PFL Africa debut in Cape Town, eight Bantamweights and Heavyweights in total, including Cameroonian heavyweight fighter Maxwell Djantou Nana, advanced to the semi-final of their respective divisional tournaments taking them a step closer to the crowns.

The PFL Africa: Johannesburg card begins at 06:00 PM SAST / 12:00 PM EST and will be broadcast live on SuperSport for English speaking African audience and on Canal+ for French speaking African audience.

In all, 32 top fighters representing 15 African countries will compete in 2025 PFL Africa tournament in four different divisions as the league embarks on a continent-wide journey to crown the first-ever PFL Africa Champions – opening even bigger doors for them to compete on the global stage with PFL’s goal to create the “Champions League of MMA”.
