Experienced civil society activist and founder and Executive Director of the Cameroon Youths and Students Forum for Peace (CAMYOSFOP),  Ngalim Eugine Nyuydine has been recognized for his efforts at promoting peace in the country.

He was declared winner of the coveted Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) 2024 Peace Man Of The Year award at the PCC Peace Summit Award, which held at the Synod Office Hall in Buea in the South West region on Wednesday October 30.

The Peace Summit Award is an initiative of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) introduced as a peace-building tool in 2019 to encourage social actors in Cameroon for the promotion of peace in the country and the world at large.

This award is non–denominational and embodies every element of inclusivity, fairness and transparency, organisers say. Chaired by the outgoing Moderator of the PCC, Rt. Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba, the award ceremony this year was twinned with the graduation of the third batch of the PCC Peace and Justice Center trainees.

The PCC said the 2024 Peace Man Of The Year award was given to Ngalim Eugene in recognition of his works “as most impactful man in fostering peace and social cohesion in Cameroon”.

It is the latest recognition for the accomplished leader in national and international evidence-based policymaking and civil society advocacy with over two decades of proven record of accomplishment.

“This is a huge recognition as it cuts across religious boundaries promoting interfaith dialogue as the award itself is non-denominational,” Ngalim Eugene told NewsWatch. “Imagine that I am a catholic by faith but this award is offered to me by the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC). I wish the blessings of this award also transcend to the ongoing dialogue amongst the people of Cameroon especially in the English speaking regions,” he said further.

Ngalim Eugene joins other prominent Cameroonians who have been recipients of the prestigious award including the Rt. Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba, late Cardinal Christian Tumi, Barrister Clifford Niba Akonteh and Christian Achaleke.

Holder of a Master’s Degree in the History of International Relations from the University of Yaoundé One, Ngalim Eugene has undertaken many certified courses in his areas of competences. His works span a variety of sectors including arms control, security sector, peace building and conflict management, human rights, youth and gender, development of effectiveness and international agendas including the UN Agenda 2030 and AU Agenda 2063.

In JulyNgalim Eugene received the African Union Economic and Social Council (ECOSOCC), Roll of Honours Award for operationalizing the Livingstone Formular on the involvement of the civil society in the promotion of peace, security and the stability of Africa.
