Over a thousand women turned out for the celebration of the International Women’s Day 2024 in Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region on Friday March 8, thanks to the gigantic support of Hon Ngala Gerard.

The MP for Nkambe Central supported the women of his constituency with 500 pieces of the Women’s Day fabric worth FCFA 5 million and FCFA 1 million cash to facilitate the celebration and refreshments.

Clad in the fabric, the women respected tradition like their counterparts nationwide, turned out massively at the Fon Ibrahim Jabfuh grandstand in Nkambe to observe the day dedicated to them.

It was a moment to examine and remind themselves of the distance covered towards socio-economic and political empowerment.
Showcasing resilience, commitment and dedication to community development, the women of Nkambe displayed peace plants, stating that they have wiped away the sad memories of February 11, 2024, while forging ahead in peace and love.

Like the saying goes, “a man is happy when his woman is happy”, so were the women of Nkambe who expressed their gratitude to the Hon. Ngala Gerard, for the beautiful and colorful nature of the day.

The Divisional Delegate for Women’s Empowerment and the Family for Donga Mantung Division, Chantal Neng Mubele said the 2024 Women’s Day turnout in Nkambe was unprecedented, putting the participation at about 200%.

The day was commemorated under the theme: “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”.
Activities marking the day at the Nkambe grandstand were chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer, (SDO) for Donga Mantung Division, Georges Magloire Emmanuel Bassilekin who praised the women for their massive turnout.

In the nation’s capital, Yaoundé, activities were chaired by the First Lady, Chantal Biya in the presence of the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, (MINPROFF) and other members of government.
